SFO

I'm in San Francisco for a work thing... flew in today, will leave tomorrow to go to Portland for another work thing and then back home on Friday.

I used to travel for work a lot -- now, not so much. I have to say that I like parts of it -- being in a new city, wandering around, doing some "fun" new work stuff and, in the case of traveling to San Francisco, seeing some old friends.

I had dinner with one of my former work colleagues, Mara. Mara and I have worked together a couple of times in the past. She actually reported to me at one point -- although I've always considered her a colleague and a good friend.

She's fiercly independent, smart, funny and one of the best puzzle solvers I know.

We had dinner at The Tadich Grill -- great seafood place. I had cioppino, which is a delicious fish stew. It was great to catch up with her.

I got here in time to get a run in. It was really nice to run in temperatures above the freezing mark. It was probably in the 50s today and I ran the route near Fisherman's Wharf. I was only out for 42 minutes, but it was a great 42 minutes.

I'm concerned, though, that I'm way behind in my training. Since I've been sick most of the month, my workouts have been woefully lacking.

I've got my first indoor tri in about 2 weeks; I'll start really training for the summer season within a few weeks. I'm afraid all my friends will be much stronger than me and leave me in the dust...

I'll just have to keep moving forward, one foot and swim stroke at a time.

You'll catch up, don't worry. How nice to be able to run in warm weather.

We'd NEVER leave you in the dust, Amy! We're all in the same boat!!!

Your 42 minute run sounds fabulous! I'll be doing to same in FL from Feb 9-18.

I'll be thinking of you in the a.m. on the 18th and wishing you great fun at the triathlon. (Wish I could be there!)
